The Black and Blue frame in the Lampworking Glasses Model Q368 is durable with its TR-90 Nylon construction. The adjustable rubber nose pads and rubber nose pieces assist the frame in firmly staying on your face. With all the comfort, the Lampworking Glasses Model Q368 Sodium Flare Polycarbonate still provide security and meets the ANSI Z87-2+ safety standards
The polycarbonate material is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection. It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for Lampworking where Infrared protection is needed. This filter is more for soft glass usage and clear borosilicate glass similar to the old Didymium glasses.
Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
