Categorized as either UVA or UVB, these invisible ultra violet rays from the sun can cause serious damage to your eyes leading to cataracts, macular degeneration, or permanent retinal impairment. Studies have shown that permanent damage to the eyes can result from prolonged exposure to the sun without adequate protection. Ultra violet (UV) light is the component of sunlight most responsible for eye damage. Excessive exposure, especially from light reflected from sand, snow or pavement, can produce a burn on the surface of the eye.

Although darkly tinted sunglasses may reduce brightness, they do not remove glare as does a polarized lens. In addition, dark sunglasses without added ultraviolet protection may cause more damage to the eyes than not wearing sunglasses at all. The darkness of the lens can cause the pupil to dilate, thus letting more ultraviolet rays into the inner parts of the eye. Polarized lenses solve both problems by eliminating glare and filtering out harmful ultraviolet light because the filter reduces the polarized glare and also has ultraviolet absorbing properties.

Always hold the clip-ons by the sides of one of the lenses to avoid scratching or smudging the lens itself.  Whenever your clip-ons are not in use, keep them safe in the case provided.  To clean your clip-ons, we recommend use of soapy water and clean, lint free cloth. Avoid using strong detergents or abrasive cleaning products. Always hold the clip-ons by the side of the lens you are cleaning.

• Never attempt to look directly at the sun even when wearing your clip on sunglasses.
• Never wear the clip on sunglasses for driving at night or where you may encounter low light conditions such as indoors, a forested area, or when going through a tunnel.
• We do not recommend the use of the clip on sunglasses for sport as the lenses are not designed to offer protection from impact.
• Never attempt to put on or take off your clip on sunglasses while driving, operating machinery, or carrying out sports.
• Ensure you check your clip on sunglasses regularly for any signs of wear and replace them if they are no longer safe to use or if the clips have been damaged.

Our spring-fit clip on sunglasses have plastic coated lugs for attaching to your prescription glasses. While this helps to protect your glasses from accidental scratching, you should take care when fitting and removing your clipons to minimise contact with your prescription lenses.

Check your clip-ons regularly for any signs of wear to the protective coating on the lugs and replace them if the bare metal is exposed.

Yes, many of our customers wear our polarized clip on sunglasses successfully over photochromic, light-reactive lenses such as “Transitions”.

The purpose of the spring bridge is to expand the clip on sunglasses to make them easier to clip over your glasses. When you have clipped them on, the spring-bridge returns to its un-extended width, providing the tension required to hold the clip-ons securely onto your frames.

The four retaining clips are designed to fit over lenses up to 4-5 mm thick at the edges.

Provided that you have the correct size of clipons for your frames, they will be secured by the tension on the spring bridge, and therefore fitting over ultra thin lenses should not pose a problem.

The four retaining clips on the clip on sunglasses have a clear vinyl protective sleeve to help protect your lenses and frames from scratching. Provided that you take reasonable care when fitting or removing the clipons, scratching is not normally a problem.

We use our clip on sunglasses on a daily basis and have not experienced any scratching of the tinted lenses during normal use. We have had no reports from customers of this being a problem.
