Lampworking Glasses – Sodium Flare Polycarbonate Mobile Hot Glassworking Barrier 24 in. x 36 in. Window

$3,780.00

The Phillips Mobile Hot Glassworking Barrier gives you all the protection of our standard glassblowing eyewear and shields in a mobile standing barrier. This barrier features a large, 24″ by “36, viewing window on top, high quality rolling casters, and locking casters to keep the barrier from moving while observing. This is perfect for providing a safe and movable viewing area for any sort of glassworking application without having to share eyewear. Common uses include daily observation/supervising of glassworking, placement between work benches and doorways, and visitors.

This polycarbonate is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection.  It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for glassworking where Infrared protection is needed.  This filter is more for soft glass usage

Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
