The Lampworking Glasses Model 500 frame comes in a stylish gold or gunmetal metal frame. The common shape of this frame fits a variety of faces, but the Designer Metal beats out the competition with spring hinges, removable side shields, comfortable silicone nose pads, and extreme durability. These glasses look so good that when you’re done working, you won’t want to take them off!
The Lampworking Glasses Model 500 polycarbonate lens is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection. It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for Glassworking where Infrared protection is needed. This filter is more for soft glass and clear borosilicate.
Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
