Copper polarized lenses

  • A lighter tint, ideal for hazy sunshine and variable light conditions
  • Filter category 2 copper tint filters out blue and green wavelengths in sunlight that are the chief components of glare and haze
  • Enhance contrast on hazy and overcast days, reducing squinting and resulting strain.

Our polarised clip on sunglasses have been tested and approved for driving, and meet standards recognition of traffic signal lights and colors.

Our polarized lens colours are optimised for use in different light conditions.

The polarising lenses act like a microscopic venetian blind to reduce the sun’s glare by up to 99.97%. This is particularly important when driving where reflected glare from road surfaces and car bonnets can be a severe hazard and cause eye fatigue.

It is important to observe our safety guidelines when using clip on sunglasses for driving and never use them for driving at night.

Driving in very bright conditions

For driving in bright, sunny conditions where intense reflected sunlight is a problem, use the polarized smoke grey lenses. They are designed for intensive sunlight conditions. Their low visible transmittance, combined with 99% polarizer efficiency, provide maximum protection against the sun.

The grey lenses reduce light intensity, while maintaining original colour, with no distortion. They relieve glare and increase contrast.

Driving in moderate to bright sun

Brown is good for driving in moderate to bright light conditions.

This lens tint combines 99% polarizer efficiency with high blue light absorption and therefore provides high contrast and enhanced depth perception.

All year round driving in variable conditions

Copper is good for driving in variable light conditions because the lenses offer the best compromise between visible light transmittance, blue light absorption and a high red factor.

This results in enhanced reds such as traffic lights and car brake lights. The lenses enhance colour contrast sensitivity and give you a sharper image under hazy weather conditions. Because our lenses our polarized, they significantly reduce the sun’s glare.

Winter driving in hazy and misty conditions

Yellow polarized clip on lenses are an excellent choice for winter driving. The yellow filter gives you sharper vision in misty, rainy or dull conditions, while the polarization virtually eliminates the glare from low angle sun or car headlights.

Additionally, the lenses benefit from a flash-mirrored front surface, and an anti-reflective back surface that makes them more comfortable to wear, by reducing reflections of light from behind you that bounce off the surface into your eyes.

Note: these lenses are not recommended for night driving.

Fishing in bright sunshine

For lake or river fishing in bright sunshine, use the polarized brown category 3 filter lenses.

They combine 99% polarizer efficiency with high blue light absorption and therefore provide high contrast and enhanced depth perception.

Fishing in moderate sunshine and variable conditions

For shallows fishing in moderately bright conditions, cloudy and variable weather, use the polarized copper category 2 lenses.

Copper lenses have been developed to enhance colour contrast, depth perception and detail recognition, reducing squinting and resulting eye strain. They are particularly effective for seeing under the surface of shallow lakes, as the photographs above illustrate.

The polarization of the copper lenses will still help to reduce the sun’s glare even though the tint is lighter.

Fishing in hazy and misty conditions

Yellow polarized clip on lenses are an excellent choice for those early morning starts and in the autumn when it can be hazy or misty.

The yellow filter gives you sharper vision in poor light conditions, while the polarization virtually eliminates the glare from low angle sun when it comes out.

Additionally, the lenses benefit from a flash-mirrored front surface, and an anti-reflective back surface that makes them more comfortable to wear, by reducing reflections of light from behind you that bounce off the surface into your eyes.

Which lenses are best for sea fishing?

Sea fishing enthusiasts generally recommend grey tinted lenses for maximum protection when fishing in the open sea in bright, sunny, conditions. However, the grey lens color will not enhance contrast and so is not optimum for river and lake fishing in relatively shallow water.
