Lampworking Glasses- Model 8333 with Sodium Flare Polycarbonate Lens

$69.95

These Lampworking Glasses- Model 8333 ( size 51-19-140mm) has a comfortable fit and sturdy design.  Adjustable nose pads and spring hinges.  These glasses look so good that when you’re done working, you won’t want to take them off! The lenses are Polycarbonate Sodium Flare with an anti-scratch coating. Excellent for Soft Glass Working application.

This polycarbonate is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection.  It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for glassworking where Infrared protection is needed.  This filter is more for soft glass usage

Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
