Most prescription orders generally take about 5-15 business days to process before shipping. Depending on the options you chose, your order could process faster or slower. Lens Strength, certain options and coatings can dictate additional delivery times. Most non-prescription glasses ship either the same day or within 2-3 business days.

Our return policy on prescription eyewear is that it is non-returnable for a refund because the lenses are a custom job. You can return the glasses within 30 days for a refund of the frame cost only, or, if you’d prefer a remake, we can apply a significant amount of what you paid for the first pair towards a remake. If the glasses are made incorrectly we will remake it at no cost.

Most competitors do not own their own lab and must purchase your prescription lenses from an outside optical lab. Our supplier houses two full prescription optical labs, one for plastic and the other for glass. Because of this, we cut out the middle-man, allowing us to offer lower retail prices.

Because of the complicated nature of prescription lenses in wraparound frames, there are many variables which work together to decide whether a prescription wrap will work for you. We are working on developing a new system online which will be more thorough in preventing you from ordering wraparound glasses if you are not a candidate for them, but until then our system only prevents those with very high prescriptions from ordering. Those who are on the cusp are the only ones who may be able to order even though a wrap won’t work for them. Be advised that we do allow customers to cancel for a full refund if they order a frame that won’t work for them and aren’t interested in switching to one that will.

Our prescription order page allows you to order your glasses with whatever type of lenses you choose. If you choose clear lenses instead of a dark lens, your glasses will come with clear lenses. Frames are generally pictured with dark lenses only if they’re commonly ordered with dark lenses. Those that are generally ordered in clear are pictured with clear lenses, but all of our prescription eyewear is available with lens color options.

We do have a storefront in Bangor PA where we stock a broad range of our frames as well as an abundance of finished glasses. You can also purchase frames for fit. If you are not satisfied with the frame you can return for a full refund or we can send out another you may be interested in. You can order multiple frames at a time. When you are ready to return them for fill we will apply a credit of the frames you didn’t select towards your fill.

Regular tightening of your hinge screws will also help maintain your frame. Follow these guidelines and your Costas will help you see what’s out there for years to come.

just like all other angling equipment, proper maintenance of your Costas is vital in achieving maximum performance and maximum protection.  To keep your Costas in great condition and to get the most out of them in your time on the water, follow these simple steps.
Rinse:  Take your Costas and run them under some lukewarm water to rinse away any salt, sunscreen or other unwanted debris.
Clean:  Take a dash of mild soap and lightly apply it to the lenses. Use your fingers to gently spread it across the lens and cover the full surface.
Rinse again:  Once you’ve applied the soap, run your Costas under water again ensuring that all residue is removed.
Dry:  For the final step, take your microfiber cloth and gently dry your Costas. Make sure to do this thoroughly!

The right material for your lenses will depend upon your prescription. Please let us know your prescription, frame style and size and application. We can assist you with the best lens material for your specific requirements.

It takes some time to adjust to wearing progressive lenses. Because there are different corrective powers within the lenses, your eyes and your mind will need to learn to adjust. Often it will take a week or more to completely adjust. If you continue to have problems, but your eye doctor is able to verify that the prescription is accurate, it may be that the frames simply aren’t sitting correctly on your face and can be adjusted to fit more precisely.

Yes, you may purchase prescription lenses only at VS Eyewear. But because we will need to cut the prescription lenses to fit your exact frame, you will have to send us the frame they are intended for.

Yes, we can replace the prescription lenses in your current frame. However, you must send us your eyeglass or sunglass frames before we can process your order because we will need to cut the prescription lenses to fit your exact frame. Additionally, you must speak with an optician before you send us your frames.
We can only replace sunglass lenses in your current frame if they are prescription sunglass lenses.

We understand that clear vision is essential to maintaining safety in demanding environments. That’s why we offer our advanced anti-fog permanent coating, engineered to deliver consistent clarity and elevate your visual performance.

Our innovative coating works at the molecular level, preventing moisture from condensing into vision-blocking fog. By disrupting the formation of water droplets on the lens surface, this technology ensures long-lasting clarity—so your lenses stay clear, your vision remains sharp, and your focus stays where it matters most.

Learn about Anti-Fog Permanent Coating

In today’s digital age, many of us spend a significant amount of time in front of screens, whether it’s for work, entertainment, or staying connected. This increased screen time has led to concerns about eye strain, fatigue, and potential long-term effects of exposure to blue light emitted by digital devices.

To address these concerns, eyewear technologies such as anti-reflective coatings and blue light filters have emerged. We will explore the benefits of both technologies and help you make an informed decision to optimize your digital eyewear experience.

Pupil Distance (PD) is the distance, measured in millimeters, between the centers of your pupils. It ensures that the lenses in your glasses are correctly aligned with your eyes, providing clear and comfortable vision.
– How to Measure PD:
– Measure Your Own PD: Stand 8 inches from a mirror, close one eye, and use a ruler to measure from the center of one pupil to the other.
With a Friend’s Help: Ask a friend to measure your PD while you keep your eyes still, looking at a distant object.

* * * OPEN THIS LINK FOR STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS * * *

Remember to measure your PD 3–4 times for accuracy. The average adult PD range is 54–74mm, and for children, it’s 43–58mm.

Wraparound frames and frames with large lenses have limits when it comes to prescription capabilities. Wraparounds can cause distortion for stronger prescriptions because of the curvature of the lens. Frames with larger lenses (including wraparounds) also have limits on what pupil distances will work in them. This has to do with the size of our lens blanks; we can only move your optical center so far from the center of an uncut lens while maintaining enough room to edge it to the shape of your frame. This is especially true for bifocal prescriptions.

Segment Height is the vertical measurement from the bottom of your lens to the top of the segment line in multifocal or progressive lenses. It ensures the transition between lens zones (distance, intermediate, and near) aligns with your natural line of sight.
How to Measure Segment Height:
Wear your chosen frames: Ensure they sit comfortably in your natural position.
Stand in front of a mirror or have someone assist: Measure from the bottom edge of the lens to the center of your pupil.
Get a professional fitting: An optician typically measures segment height during an in-store fitting for the most accurate results.

You want prescription safety glasses that fit comfortably and meet the safety requirements of your job.  Every person has different needs, so the same applies to prescription safety glasses.  Think about what your main activity is, such as machinery work, lab work or sports.  Consider the requirements for prescription safety glasses that will be worn at work.  Consider whether you will spend most of your time indoors or out, and make sure to add the best scratch, anti-fog, UV protection, and other safety lenses.  We also offer a range of tints, colors and mirror coatings so that you can personalize safety lenses to look stylish, comfortable, or protective.

The average price for prescription safety glasses is around $90.00. It can vary greatly depending on the frame you choose, as well as your prescription and lens choice.  A higher index prescription might be more suitable for different lens materials. Additional coatings, such as anti-fog and anti-scratch, may be necessary. The price will go up if you add coatings or colors.

ANSI Z87+ Safety Glasses (or just Z87 for short) are eyeglasses that meet the minimum requirement for eye protection as defined by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). This includes hazards; sand, dust particles, flying fragments, large chips or objects, the lenses must meet the  impact ANSI rating for Z87-2+ (Rx frame), Z87+ (Plano frame), Z87+ (all other lenses) which includes Chipping, grinding, machining, masonry work, riveting, and sanding.

You can identify safety glasses if the frame or lens has Z87 or Z87+ stamps to indicate that they meet ANSI standards for Z87 safety glasses certification.

VS Eyewear is a specialist in prescription safety glasses. When shopping online for prescription safety glasses, it is important to think about what you will use the glasses for. VS Eyewear proudly carries a wide range of frames from plastic to wrap around.

VS Eyewear has the best selection of safety glasses at very high quality and affordable pricing. You’ll find safety glasses to suit your needs from a variety of brands such as Wiley X, Oakley, Pentax Safety and Stoggles.

Prescription safety glasses will normally ship within 5-10 business days.  Our production time can vary depending on frame availability and certain lens options.  Your order will ship via the method you select during the checkout process.  Unfortunately, the method of shipping that you choose will not cut down on production time.  Therefore, selecting Next Day Air does not mean that you will receive your order the next day. It only means that UPS will ship it to you in one day from the time that they pick up the package from our facility.

OSHA rules from 2008 state that employers do not have to pay for prescription safety glasses. However, they are encouraged to.  Please click here to view our Prescription Corporate Safety Glass Program.

Yes, VS Eyewear offers prescription safety glasses in  progressive, Flat top lined bifocals and single vision lenses.  View available options.

Older prescription safety glasses could be deemed obsolete as OSHA and ANSI update their standards. You should ensure that prescription safety glasses you own are stamped with the Z87 or Z87+ marks. You may also find that your glasses might not meet OSHA and ANSI standards if they are damaged.  Most glasses are changed every two years.

An anti-fog coating is the best way to avoid fogging safety glasses. VS Eyewear and other brands offer this treatment to their lenses. Fog can build up from oil and dirt on your lenses. You should also clean your lenses regularly with a microfiber cloth that won’t scratch them.  The anti-fog coating certainly helps, but glasses can still fog, depending on your work environment.

Side shields for prescription safety glasses can be a useful tool to provide 360-degree protection in many segments. These shields increase the protection of your eyes and protect you from airborne threats in areas such as hospitals, workshops, and laboratories. We love that removable side shields can be stored away so your glasses can remain regular. Many of the safety glasses already have the sides shield built in or are wrap frames that don’t require side shields.  You can choose the level of protection you need in the field from both options. Safety goggles, prescription wraparound safety glasses and safety glasses with prescription offer additional protection than side shields.

VS Eyewear prescription safety sunglasses can be made from a variety materials including trivex, polycarbonate, high index 1.67, 1.74 and standard real glasses.  We offer many lens coatings that can be used on safety glasses.  All of our lenses materials are ANSI Z87.1-approved, and the trivex lens and polycarbonate lens are ANSI Z87+.  Our customer service team will be glad to help you if you have any questions about the material or its properties.

Yes, all of our prescription eyewear comes with a case and microfiber pouch.

Let’s start with the bad news. About 90 percent of Oakley glasses are not safety-approved. ANSI or any other standards organization has not certified that these pairs of glasses have sufficient impact resistance or are suited for challenging environments. If you need safety-approved glasses, therefore, you cannot purchase any of these pairs.
For the approximately 10 percent of Oakley glasses that are safety-approved, you will want to look at the frames themselves. On the frames of these glasses, you will find a marking or stamping that signals they are safety-approved. As just one example, on the Oakley Standard Issue Det Cord Industrial model, you will see that the frame is marked with the appropriate ANSI markings (ANSI Z87.1).

Wiley X is a favorite brand that we carry for our customers. They are a top manufacturer of prescription safety glasses. Wiley X Safety Glasses prides itself on its ability to keep up-to-date with the latest trends for prescription safety glasses. They have been offering optical safety protection since 1996 and have tirelessly worked to improve safety eyewear markets. Wiley X offers a broad range of ANSI approved eyewear for both individuals and corporations.

At VS Eyewear, we are proud of our extensive collection of safety glasses. Before including an item in our collection, we make sure that it is of the highest quality and that our customers can rely on these safety glasses in the most difficult conditions. That is why we carry brands like 7Eye, ArmouRx, Oakley, Wiley X, Pentax, Stoggles, Our own House Brand and much more!

The VS Eyewear team is excited to present our collection of glass safety glasses. This selection of products includes a great assortment of frames that come in different shapes, sizes, and colors. All of our glass safety glasses meet rigorous ANSI Z87 safety standards and feature extremely scratch-resistant glass lenses in a 1.53 index material.

These glasses are ideal for people who need ANSI-approved safety glasses but don’t need the impact safety of polycarbonate. Plus, glass is much more scratch resistant than any plastic lens material and tends to take a lot longer to wear out. All glass safety glasses are available with a great variety of lens types that you can choose from.

While this is ultimately true, glass is a very rigid material that can shatter if dropped or hit the right way. It’s EXTREMELY unlikely. You see, glass lenses are held to similar safety standards as other lens materials so they are much safer than most people think. They undergo specific treatments to help with impact resistance. They are also tempered so if they take an impact they don’t necessarily shatter, instead they crack so it drastically reduces any chance of glass shards coming back into your eye.

Do not try to adjust your glasses yourself. Force and bending can damage your glasses and even cause them to break.

We sell prescription safety glasses with foam lining the lenses on the inside of the frame. Many of these glasses also allow you to remove the foam. Check out the Wiley X Climate Control series and 7Eye Eyewear to find most of our eyewear with foam gaskets like this. You can also look at our prescription safety goggles.

Transitions® lenses have to be exposed to direct UV rays before they will change. Depending upon weather conditions they may get more or less dark from day to day.
Transitions lenses will not darken in a car, because most windshields have UV filters built into them. However, Transitions® does offer Xtractive and Drivewear lenses that do darken in the car. Learn more about Xtractive, Drivewear and other Transitions® products on our Transitions lenses info page. Get more information on our Transitions lenses information page.

Yes, you may purchase prescription lenses only at VS Eyewear. But because we will need to cut the prescription lenses to fit your exact frame, you will have to send us the frame they are intended for.

We do offer Double segment prescription bifocals, commonly referred to as Double D bifocals within the optical industry. These lenses specially designed for individuals who require enhanced visual assistance. These unique lenses feature two distinct segments resembling the capital letter ‘D’ – one positioned at the upper and another at the lower part of the lens.

Professionals such as electricians, mechanics, and plumbers often find themselves working in tight and confined spaces, necessitating the ability to view objects up close, above, and below them without the need to constantly adjust their heads. The ingenious placement of the bifocal segments on the Double D lenses allows these individuals to effortlessly glance up or down and access the full bifocal power, enhancing their efficiency and convenience at work.

Please email us a copy of your prescription, let us know the frame shape and size you are looking for and the application you are using them for. You can also check out more detailed information in our Resource center.

Radiation lead glasses are protective eyewear designed with lenses containing lead or lead-equivalent materials. These lenses help block scatter radiation—especially during medical imaging procedures—protecting your eyes from long-term exposure.

Anyone who works near X-ray sources or ionizing radiation should wear them. This includes radiologists, dentists, surgeons, X-ray technicians, cath-lab staff, veterinarians, and anyone assisting in fluoroscopy or imaging rooms.

Most radiation glasses offer 0.75 mm Pb lead equivalency, which blocks a significant amount of scatter radiation. Some styles also include side shields to improve lateral protection.

Yes. Glass Lens Eyewear can make prescription radiation glasses in single vision, lined bifocal, or progressive lenses. Your prescription strength does not affect the radiation protection rating.

Radiation protective lenses are typically made from Schott glass or equivalent high-density glass infused with lead. Frames are often constructed from durable nylon, stainless steel, or TR-90 materials for both comfort and impact resistance.

Because the lenses contain lead, they are heavier than standard eyewear. However, modern designs feature lightweight frames, improved balance, and comfortable nose pads to reduce fatigue during long procedures.

No. Lead glasses are specifically designed for ionizing radiation scatter protection. They are not a replacement for laser safety eyewear or UV protective lenses. If you need those, we offer dedicated laser and UV options.

Use a gentle lens cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Avoid harsh solvents like acetone or alcohol, which may damage coatings. Store the glasses in a padded case to prevent scratches or chips.

Yes. Lead-lined glass lenses can chip or crack if dropped. Treat them similarly to other high-quality glass lenses. If damaged, they should be replaced immediately to maintain proper radiation protection.

The lenses do not “expire,” but wear and tear can affect clarity or structural integrity. Most facilities replace radiation eyewear every 3–5 years or sooner if damaged.

Radiation lead eyewear comes in:
* Wraparound frames
* Fitovers for wearing over prescription glasses
* Stylish everyday-style frames
* Side-shielded frames
* Sport and safety styles
VS Eyewear offers multiple frame options suitable for medical environments

Side shields help block scatter radiation entering from the periphery. For maximum protection—especially in fluoroscopy or cath labs—side shields are strongly recommended.

Consider your needs:
* Maximum protection: wraparound styles
* Best comfort: lightweight nylon or TR-90 frames
* Over your own glasses: fitover models
* Prescription lenses: standard or wraparound styles

Most frames come in standard industry sizes. If you need exact measurements or assistance choosing the right fit, we can guide you based on your PD, lens width, bridge size, or frame style.

Most medical-grade radiation glasses are 0.75 mm Pb equivalency, which meets or exceeds recommended protection guidelines for scatter radiation.

Laser safety glasses use a process called attenuation, which limits the amount of energy passing through the lens. We offer two types of laser safety glasses: glass and plastic. Glass lenses contain rare elements that absorb the energy, thus preventing the energy from reaching your eyes. On the other hand, plastic lenses have inorganic dyes that block the passing of the certain wavelengths. Plastic lenses block specific wavelengths, which is why it’s important to know which wavelengths you want to protect yourself from. Since plastic lenses contain dyes, they tend to be darker than glass lenses for the same wavelength ranges. It is important to consider the differences between glass and plastic lenses before choosing laser glasses in your wavelength range.

The first thing to consider is the wavelength of the laser, its power level, whether you need to see the beam or not, and finally the visible light transmission of the filter. If the visible light transmission is too dark, you may have difficulty operating in your workspace. If you’re unsure on any of these points, please contact one of our Customer Service Representatives for assistance.

NEVER look directly into any laser beam, no matter if you are wearing filters or not. Make sure there are proper safety interlocks and detailed operating procedures regarding the use of the laser. If glasses are required, use them, even when you are not operating the laser directly.

Optical Density is a measure used to gauge the protective level of a laser filter. Considering laser wavelength, power level and operating mode, calculations are made to determine the “worst case” optical density required for a particular laser application.
Every increase of 1 equates to a value of 10. For example, an OD of 0 is 100% transmission. OD 1 is 10%, 2 is 1%, 3 is .1%, 4 is .01% and 5 is .001% Most medical devices require and OD of 5. That means you will be blocking 99.999% of the laser energy.

Extremely. Lasers can have anywhere between 100 and 10,000 times more energy than a 100 Watt lightbulb. In a lightbulb, light energy is dispersed in all directions. Laser energy moves in one wavelength and one direction, so is therefore much more highly concentrated. Powerful enough lasers can cause damage to your eye faster than you can blink, so be careful at all times.

Follow the Standard Operating Procedure set up by your laser safety officer. If you do not have one, avoid direct viewing of the laser beam. Wear glasses recommended by the manufacturer. Do not defeat safety interlocks that are built into your system. If you have any doubts, it is always best not to proceed until you consult with an expert.

Yes, they do. All Laser safety glasses at VS Eyewear come with a case for their protection.  We also ship them with a soft microfiber cleaning pouch and small cord.

To test laser safety glasses, a spectrophotometer is required and three steps need to be applied. First, the lens needs to be applied to the spectrophotometer, which will test the amount of light being absorbed against the amount of light being let through at different wavelengths. The amount being absorbed is a measurement known as Optical Density (OD). Second, you need to find out what protection level is needed based on the output of your laser by looking for the recommended OD of the laser. Finally, compare the OD of your lens to that required. If it is sufficient, it is considered safe.

The best and easiest way to buy laser safety glasses is online. VS Eyewear is dedicated to providing the best laser safety glasses at affordable prices and quick delivery.

We offer a 30-day return policy on all unused items in their original packaging.

Glassworking glasses are specialized protective eyewear designed for torchwork, lampworking, beadmaking, flameworking, and furnace glassblowing. They filter harmful sodium flare (orange/yellow light) and provide UV and IR protection to reduce eye strain and protect vision.

They protect against:
* Sodium flare (the bright yellow/orange glare from molten glass)
* Infrared (IR) radiation
* Ultraviolet (UV) radiation
* Heat exposure
* Eye strain during torchwork
Different lens types offer different levels of these protections.

Didymium is a lens material that filters sodium flare, allowing you to see the true color of the glass while working. It is ideal for soft glass, beadmaking, and general lampworking where you need accurate color clarity.

Didymium:
* Excellent sodium flare reduction
* Great for soft glass lampworking
* Enhances visibility and color accuracy
ACE 202:
* Advanced sodium flare filtration
* Added UV and IR protection
* Suitable for both soft and borosilicate glass
* Better for higher-temperature work or long torch sessions

* Single vision
* Progressive / no-line lenses
* Reading magnifiers
Many Didymium and ACE lenses can be made in prescription form.

VS Eyewear offers:
* Wraparound safety frames
* Classic fitover styles
* Modern designer frames
* Flip-up glassworking lenses
All are designed for comfort, extended wear, and proper coverage.

Yes. Fitovers are available for customers who want to wear glassworking protection over their existing prescription eyewear.

Yes. Sodium flare and intense flame brightness can fatigue the eyes. Specialized lenses dramatically reduce this strain, making glassworking safer and more comfortable during long sessions.

Lampworking glasses are specialized protective eyewear designed to shield your eyes from sodium flare, UV radiation, and infrared (IR) heat produced during torchwork. They improve visibility of molten glass and reduce eye strain during beadmaking, soft glass, and borosilicate work.

Regular sunglasses or safety glasses do not block sodium flare or offer enough IR protection.
* Lampworking glasses provide:
* Sodium flare filtration
* UV/IR protection
* True color visibility
* Reduced eye fatigue during extended torch sessions
This makes them essential for safe and comfortable torchwork.

Sodium flare is the intense yellow-orange light emitted from molten glass at high temperatures. It:
* Obscures your view of the workpiece
* Causes eye strain
* Can damage vision with prolonged exposure
Lampworking glasses filter this flare so you can see the glass clearly.

*Sodium Flare Poly*BoroTruView Shade #2.0

*BoroTruView #3*BoroTruView #5

Yes. You can order lampworking glasses in

Absolutely. VS Eyewear offers:

BoroTruView lenses are premium protective lenses designed specifically for borosilicate (boro) torchwork. They combine effective sodium flare filtration with superior infrared (IR) protection and UV blocking, making them ideal for high-heat glassworking environments.

Compared to standard Didymium, which mainly reduces sodium flare, BoroTruView lenses are engineered for boro flame temperatures by offering:
 Higher IR protection
 Enhanced UV filtration
 Reduced glare in bright, intense flame conditions
 Better stability and visual clarity when working with borosilicate glass
They are a step above basic flare filters for torchwork that demands more heat-filtered optics.

BoroTruView lenses are best suited for medium to high-heat borosilicate torchwork — especially when working with larger torches, longer flame sessions, or repeatedly exposed glass. Their combined filtration capabilities help minimize eye fatigue and strain in hotter environments.

Yes.
BoroTruView lenses are engineered to provideboth UV and IR protection, which reduces heat load to your eyes and protects against harmful ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths generated by the torch flame.

Yes. BoroTruView lenses include sodium flare reduction, helping to diminish the bright, yellow-orange light that can obscure details and cause eye strain during glassworking.

 Premium lens materials and coatings

Hot glass glasses are protective eyewear designed for furnace glassblowing, glory hole work, and high-temperature environments. They filter intense infrared (IR) heat, reduce brightness, and block harmful UV radiation generated during hot shop work.

Typical sunglasses or basic safety glasses do not block enough IR or UV to protect your eyes from furnace heat.
* Hot glass glasses provide:
* Strong IR filtration
* UV protection
* Reduced glare and brightness
* Improved visual comfort
* Better protection during extended sessions
They allow you to work safely around the glory hole/furnace without eye strain or long-term damage.

Not usually.
Furnace glassblowing focuses mainly on IR protection, not sodium flare (which is more common in lampworking).
If you need both flare filtration and IR protection, ask VS Eyewear for a combination lens.

Some IR lenses slightly darken or tint your view.
* However, high-quality hot glass lenses from VS Eyewear are engineered to maintain:
* Good color recognition
* True molten glass visibility
* Accurate shading for furnace brightness
This helps you judge heat, color, and shape accurately.

Yes.
All hot glass protective lenses block 100% of harmful UVA/UVB radiation, which is critical for long-term eye health.

Yes.
Fit-over furnace glasses allow you to wear IR-filtered glasses over your prescription eyewear, making them ideal for those who don’t want prescription IR lenses.

Not recommended.
Lampworking lenses protect mainly from sodium flare + lower IR levels.
Furnace glassblowing requires much stronger IR protection.
