Description

The Lampworking glasses model 375 is a simple, sleek frame with a great fit. This wrapped shape blocks light from all angles and has head hugging temple design, with excellent splash and side protection. This smaller rectangular frame is light weight and durable made out of a TR-90 nylon plastic for high impact and chemical resistance. The Lampworking glasses model 375 is ANSI Z87+ approved.

This polycarbonate is very efficient in filtering sodium flare in addition to providing good ultraviolet protection.  It is very comfortable for viewing under high ambient light conditions such as when working with glowing heat sources for a duration of time. Also, although it has a relatively low luminous transmission of 38%, it is not recommended for lampworking where Infrared protection is needed.  This filter is more for soft glass usage and clear borosilicate glass similar to the Didymium glasses of the past.

Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps.
