Think back
to the Dark Ages, you know, the early
80’s. Back then, the music was iffy,
fashion was in a bad neon phase and
there were only two kinds of
sunglasses: really expensive sports
models or sunglasses your parents would
wear. Rising out of this morass was
Ryders Eyewear.
In 1986
Brent Martin was living in Whistler, on
his way to becoming the first Canadian
Mountain Bike Champion. He and his
friends needed good performance
sunglasses for all of their active
pursuits but their options were limited.
Nothing fit their needs and budget. So,
goaded on by his friends, Brent founded
Ryders Eyewear. Brent’s original vision
has since been integrated into the
design, pricing and performance of every
pair of our sunglasses:

performance glasses for human powered
activities that get your heart racing.
Fun stuff like mountain biking, trail
running, hiking, road cycling. If you
want to wear your Ryders for other heart
pumping activities like rollerblading
with your pals, streaking the quad or
naked bike riding – please be our guests

performance. We pack the glasses with as
many features as we can; features that
will benefit you and help boost your
performance. Things like optically
